About us

Built around shared experience.

Mission Anglers is a Virginia nonprofit creating structured bass-fishing and outdoor programs where service members, veterans, and first responders can learn, connect, and grow together.

Our mission

Our mission is to support veterans, active-duty service members, and first responders through peer-to-peer connection, outdoor recreation, bass-fishing education, camaraderie, and the development of healthy coping strategies and life skills.

Our philosophy

Fishing is the vehicle. Peer connection is the method. Healthy coping and community are the goals.

The program uses individualized, one-on-one cohorts. A single participant works directly with the program leader during each cohort, allowing focused instruction while creating space for genuine conversation and trust.

Who we serve

Service continues in community.

Initial programs are open to eligible veterans, active-duty military members, and first responders. Participation decisions also consider available capacity, safety, scheduling, and the fit of each applicant with the peer-based program.

Veterans

Participants from any branch or era who want to learn, reconnect, and spend purposeful time outdoors.

Active-duty members

Currently serving personnel seeking healthy recreation and connection outside the demands of duty.

First responders

Eligible law-enforcement, fire, emergency medical, dispatch, and related public-safety personnel.
